Colour is what makes our products so special.

Do you want to know why?

Our colours are the result of specific formulas, combining up to 4–5 individual ingredients that determine their characteristics: colour, shade, consistency, finish (glossy or matt) and behaviour during firing – always similar but never identical from one application to the next.

Given the artisanal nature of our blends, it is not possible to define universally applicable colour codes for our shades; however, we can say that, over the years, we have managed to refine our formulas and achieve a range of colours – distinct for each collection – which we consider to be ‘standard’, or rather consistent.

The behaviour of the colour depends not only on the quantities but also on the characteristics of the individual ingredients. It often happens that the composition of an individual ingredient is altered by the supplier, and this affects the final appearance. The colour may, for example, be more or less dense and therefore behave differently during cooking, such as spreading differently across surfaces.

The application of colour is a manual process carried out using a spray gun, and as a result, the thickness of the applied paint may vary slightly. Although we know exactly, thanks to our experience, how many coats of colour to apply to the ceramic block, it is inevitable that minor differences will occur, due to the paint being slightly thicker or thinner, for example.

So what happens to the stoves?

It so happens that, during the firing process, the same colour will always behave in a similar way but never exactly the same, and each stove will be similar but never identical in every detail to another – and therefore one of a kind!
